Acne Vulgaris

is chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by comedones, papules and pustules affecting the face, back and shoulders. Acne is extremely prevalent, with its peak incidence in early adolescence, continuing in some cases throughout adulthood. Up to 85% of adolescents may be affected. All races are affected equally, however the propensity for complications such as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring in patients with darker skin types is greater.
